Jewelry Display and Packaging Idea for Friends to Sell Your Work

Carolina Gonzalez of NeoVamp shares this fantastic jewelry display, packaging, and marketing tip. She says,

NeoVamp jewelry packaging and display idea

I make boxes like this for friends to show to their friends and coworkers; it’s full of affordable (never above 10 Euros) earrings, pendants, fridge magnets… it’s a good, effective way to show my work further my own circle and of course a growing income!

The inside of the box top is covered with a bigger version of my business card and a little open envelope with tiny business cards for people to take with them. As you can see, my business’ name, my own name and my phone number on every earring card to make sure customers can find me whether if they take cards or not.

The boxes are 25 x 9 x 8 cm., which fits for about 35-45 pieces, and were covered in vintage wallpaper, each one different.

I’ve started offering a commission of 20% of sales to some of the friends who are selling the boxes, and I think it's not only a good motivation but also a way to give this boxes to people who are not really close friends that you can ask free favours of! Some of you may say 20% is too much but I really HATE selling and I really think is worth the change; also, is a lower percentage than the one you usually get on consignments.

If you want to use this idea, I highly recommend you to pack everything like I’ve done in individual bags; not only prevents rusting and tangling, you also keep people from trying everything before buying. Customers are lazy! They won’t open every package and your earrings and pieces will be safe until they are bought.

It is also very important to make inventory of each box and keep it updated of the refillings! Boxes will come and go with unsold earrings and you don’t want to show the same earrings twice to your customers!

I live in a very small place (Canary Islands) and if you have a limited market niche, variety is more important than quantity.

To avoid ending up piling unsold pieces, I make the same earrings for two boxes (that’s about 70-80 bags) and then make different series for the next two.

In the next round, unsold pieces will be interchanged, so the maximum of people will see the minimum amount of pieces.

Thank you so much for sharing this fantastic idea, Carolina!
