Amanda of Acey Jewelry shares this lovely and easy project for making decorated jewelry gift bags:

Decorated paper jewelry gift bags
by Amanda of Acey Jewelry

Amanda says:

This is a fast, cheap way to make creative and unique gift bags for your customers.

All you need are some small (4" x 5") Kraft paper bags (I chose natural colored), and some 3D scrapbook stickers.

Wal-mart had both supplies in the same aisle in the craft section. The bags were under $2 and the stickers under $3.

Arrange the stickers however you see fit, and it'll add interest (and value) to your pieces.

Also, whenever I sell a piece of jewelry, I wrap it in acid-free anti-tarnish tissue paper.

It's available at Thunderbird Supply, which also has the best deal on sterling silver wire that I've found so far.

Thanks so much for sharing this great jewelry gift bag project, Amanda!

Nearly any paper or cardstock item can become a jewelry label.

Depending on the style and size of your pieces, there are all kinds of heavy paper goods you can recycle or restyle into earring cards, jewelry hang tags, gift tags, booth signs, even business cards.

Here's a super-quick, super-easy way to make an elegant gift pouch for earrings or other small jewelry. No sewing needed!

Here's a super-quick, super-easy way to make an elegant gift pouch for earrings or other small jewelry. No sewing needed!

No-sew ribbon pouch made by Noreen Doll,
made to hold a 2" x 2" earring card.

Step 1: From a roll of 2.5" wide wire-edged ribbon (available at fabric or craft stores), cut a 7"-long piece.

Step 2: Fold each end of your 7" piece under about 3/8" to make a nicely finished edge.

Step 3: Fold about 2-1/4" of the bottom end of your ribbon up toward the middle.

Step 4: Fold about 1-1/2" of the top of the ribbon down toward the middle. Now you have a little matchbook-shaped pouch.

Step 5: Gently pinch the open sides of the pouch together. The wire edges of the ribbon actually hold the pouch together quite well. Put earrings (or whatever) into your new little no-sew ribbon jewelry pouch.

I bought a 30-foot roll of this wire-edged ribbon on clearance after Christmas (regularly $5.99 per roll, on sale for $1.50).

A 30-foot roll of ribbon will make about 51 of pouches of this size. At regular price, that's about 12 cents per pouch. At the clearance price, it's about 3 cents per pouch.

For an embellished and larger version of this project, be sure to see the fantasy jewelry pouches by Carolina of NeoVamp.

She's taken this project to a gorgeous new level!

If making your own jewelry boxes sounds like fun, Nathanael Putnam of Studio Nathanael recommends this great (and very cheap) resource for you. He says:

Dover Books has a book of designs for small boxes made from heavy paper, which can be photocopied and re-worked…

Make Your Own Decorative Boxes

What the publisher says about this book:

"Abundant diagrams, illustrations and step-by-step instructions show how to create lovely boxes in varied shapes with heavy construction paper, a few simple tools and decorative sheets of giftwrap paper. Basic procedures for crafting square, oblong, triangular, pentagonal, round, oval and heart-shaped containers. Patterns included."

Making jewelry boxes like these would be a good way to recycle or use up small pieces of giftwrap paper!

An earring card tip from jewelry artist Laura Teague:

I have been making folded, tent-type earring cards where no paper cutting is necessary.

I use blank bookmarks available at your local craft store – simply fold them over, punch holes, and add earrings.

They are sturdy and come in several different colors. Easy and effective!
