Amanda of Acey Jewelry shares this lovely and easy project for making decorated jewelry gift bags:

Decorated paper jewelry gift bags
by Amanda of Acey Jewelry

Amanda says:

This is a fast, cheap way to make creative and unique gift bags for your customers.

All you need are some small (4" x 5") Kraft paper bags (I chose natural colored), and some 3D scrapbook stickers.

Wal-mart had both supplies in the same aisle in the craft section. The bags were under $2 and the stickers under $3.

Arrange the stickers however you see fit, and it'll add interest (and value) to your pieces.

Also, whenever I sell a piece of jewelry, I wrap it in acid-free anti-tarnish tissue paper.

It's available at Thunderbird Supply, which also has the best deal on sterling silver wire that I've found so far.

Thanks so much for sharing this great jewelry gift bag project, Amanda!

Carolina of NeoVamp shares this fantastic jewelry display, packaging, and marketing tip. She says,

Carolina Gonzalez of NeoVamp shares this fantastic jewelry display, packaging, and marketing tip. She says,

I make boxes like this for friends to show to their friends and coworkers; it’s full of affordable (never above 10 Euros) earrings, pendants, fridge magnets… it’s a good, effective way to show my work further my own circle and of course a growing income!

The inside of the box top is covered with a bigger version of my business card and a little open envelope with tiny business cards for people to take with them. As you can see, my business’ name, my own name and my phone number on every earring card to make sure customers can find me whether if they take cards or not.

The boxes are 25 x 9 x 8 cm., which fits for about 35-45 pieces, and were covered in vintage wallpaper, each one different.

I’ve started offering a commission of 20% of sales to some of the friends who are selling the boxes, and I think it's not only a good motivation but also a way to give this boxes to people who are not really close friends that you can ask free favours of! Some of you may say 20% is too much but I really HATE selling and I really think is worth the change; also, is a lower percentage than the one you usually get on consignments.

If you want to use this idea, I highly recommend you to pack everything like I’ve done in individual bags; not only prevents rusting and tangling, you also keep people from trying everything before buying. Customers are lazy! They won’t open every package and your earrings and pieces will be safe until they are bought.

It is also very important to make inventory of each box and keep it updated of the refillings! Boxes will come and go with unsold earrings and you don’t want to show the same earrings twice to your customers!

I live in a very small place (Canary Islands) and if you have a limited market niche, variety is more important than quantity.

To avoid ending up piling unsold pieces, I make the same earrings for two boxes (that’s about 70-80 bags) and then make different series for the next two.

In the next round, unsold pieces will be interchanged, so the maximum of people will see the minimum amount of pieces.

Thank you so much for sharing this fantastic idea, Carolina!

Try Diana Yount's clever mystery discount tag idea to sell more jewelry at home parties.

Diana Yount of The Diana Collection shares a great tip for increasing sales at a home jewelry party:

I conduct a monthly Open House event at my home for shoppers to buy my jewelry. This helps keep my name in front of potential customers, and allows me to move pieces during the slower months of the year.

I try to have a 'gimmick' at each Open House.

For December, I filled a holiday themed gift box with holiday Post-It Notes on which I had written various discounts (i.e. 10% off total purchase, one free pair earrings with purchase, 25% off one necklace, etc.)

Each person picked a mystery discount tag as they entered the house. Everyone then bought something so they would get the discount!

Have you considered using [tag]seasonal jewelry packaging[/tag]? For example, you can vary the colors or materials you use to evoke the different times of year when customers buy your jewelry.

After the richer, heavier colors and materials of Winter, doesn't this pretty floral [tag]jewelry gift box[/tag] absolutely evoke Spring, Summer, and lovely days?

Boxes, [tag]gift bags[/tag], [tag]tissue paper[/tag], gift tags, and [tag]jewelry pouches[/tag] are all available in a huge variety of colors and materials that you can change with the season and gift-giving occasion.

Other seasonal packaging ideas include red velvet and lace for Valentine's Day, organza and charms for Mother's Day, burgundy and sage for an elegant Christmas mood, silk autumn leaf [tag]gift tags[/tag] for Fall, etc.

Your packaging is one of the most emotional elements in your entire jewelry presentation scheme.

Why not use it to play to people's inborn seasonal rhythms?

Discover how colored tissue paper and foil stickers make festive custom jewelry packaging for Jen of Kerensamere Artful Glass Creations.

Here's how Jen of Kerensamere Artful Glass Creations packages her jewelry when she makes a sale:

Dark turquoise is my [tag]logo color[/tag] so I wrap each piece in [tag]tissue paper[/tag] similar to this color, along with what I call my "care, feeding and maintenance" card that I made on my computer with my logo on it.

It has my contact info, a check-off list for color and design name and a brief description of what my work is and how to take care of it.

At a show all this plus the receipt and a [tag]business card[/tag] go into a white paper bag (think the brown paper lunch bag but white – found them at the local restaurant supply store as well as the super/club stores).

I will fill them with more tissue to make them festive and I stick a [tag]foil sticker[/tag] of my logo on the outside of the bag.

I also use this sticker for sealing a tissue paper wrapped piece, particularly if it's a gift. The foil stickers complement my tissue paper.

For shipping purposes the tissue paper and card bundle (with sticker) goes into a padded envelope or box. I have white [tag]cardboard jewelry boxes[/tag] with cotton inside for larger pieces. I put one of my stickers on the top of these boxes.

I think that the foil stickers make the simple wrappings very pretty and classy in combination with the colored tissue without breaking the bank.

I am presently looking for a better [tag]presentation[/tag] package / box / bag for my newest and much larger pieces, because they don't fit into the necklace boxes that I have now.
